Objective :To find out the relationship of minimal residual disease(MRD) and cytogenetic characteristics in adult acute myeloid leukemia(AML) M2.Methods : Immunophenotyping and the level of MRD using eukemia-associated immunophenotypic (LAIP)was analysed by multiparametric flow cytometry(MFC) in 117 adult M2-AML.Results : Based on cytogenetic characteristics , 3 different prognostic categories were identified. The level of MRD has no difference in 3 different prognostic categories. In this group MRD levels were defined as high (≥5x10-3) and low (<5x10-3) level one year. The incidence of relapse were 29.4% and 8.8%, in the 2 groups, respectively, with a higher incidence among patients who were in MRD high level group than in those who were in MRD low group (P< 0.05).Conclusion: Immunophenotypical evaluation of MRD in M2-AML can be reliably used to assess early response to treatment and predict relapse.
