ObjectiveTo compare the stability of monosegmental and bisegmental fixation by pedicle instrumentation in the management of thoracolumbar fracture by finite element analysis.MethodUsing the Dicom files collected from CT directly to built the 3D finite element model (T12-L2 vertebra) by Simpleware software. Put these models into Ansys finite element program and analysis.ResultsMake the six models into ansys finite element software, and undertook pre-processing, axial load 500N and 10N·M torque were loaded, on axial compression, flexion, extension, lateral bending and torsion respectively to study and analyze the corresponding displacement, rotational angle and stress.ConclusionThe results can inprove that both monosegmental and bisegmental fixation pedicle instrumentation fixation could afford stability fixation (P<0.05). And according to the SPI, the stability between monosegmental and bisegemtnal fixation pedicle instrumentation are same (P>0.05).
