Artery stiffness is the physiological and pathological basis of a variety of cardiovascular diseases. Characterized parameters indicating the vascular stiffness are obtained by the analysis of ECG and pulse wave signals, and they are able to reflect the early change of vascular condition, and predict the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Community health care plays a more and more important role in the prevention and control of chronic cardiovascular disease. Such situation requires the development of potable system for cardiovascular parameters monitoring with the capability of early warning to assist the evaluation of risk of chronic cardiovascular diseases. For this purpose, we designed an early detection of vascular stiffness monitoring system for community use. The portable network based multi-parameter system is suitable for home and community use to meet various demands. The main contents of this thesis are as follow.1. The analysis of a series of vascular characterizing parameters and their computational methods, pre-processing of acquired signal, and the construction of the algorithm for the computation of characterized parameters.2. The introduction of design procedures of the signal acquisition module, signal analysis module and signal monitoring platform of the system; the multi-mode application for several occasions.3. Acquisition of the physiological signal from clinics and discussion on the relationship among the parameters; analysis of the factors affecting blood pressure by cuff pressuring experiments; providing an experimental basis for further study on the techniques of vascular stiffness detection. The signal acquisition and parameter analysis system can be further developed to a potential technique for evaluating the risk of cardiovascular diseases. With effective and prompt medical intervention, the technique facilitates the reduction of the morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases.
