Objective:To investigate the value of CT routine scan and CT perfusion imaging in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors of parotid gland.Methods:1. Patient study37 patients who suffered parotid gland tumor with 42 lesions had been enrolled. Among the total,13 cases with 16 lesions were examed by both spiral CT routine scan and enhancement scanning, however, the other 24 cases with 26 lesions were examed by spiral CT routine scan, perfusion imaging, and enhancement scanning.2. Datamation and image analysisTo analyze the CT signs, including the size of tumor, density, whether cystis degeneration or not, whether the verge clear or not, whether the vicinity tissue offended or not, and whether the swell lymph node appeared in the corresponding slice or not.The data which collected from CT perfusion imaging were measured by Perfusion 2 software of the machine with caudomedial part tumor mode algorithm. The automatically poietic perfusion parameters including blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), mean transmit time (MTT), and permeability of blood capillary surface (PS).3. Statistical analysisStatistical software of SPSS13.0 version had been used. The enumeration data were measured by chi-spuare test, and the measurement data were calculated by ambi-independent sample rank test respectively. The size of test a equals 0.05, and the difference was statistically significant when the P-value was lower than 0.05.Results:1. Analysis of CT routine scanThere were 31 benign lesions and 11 malignant lesions detected by CT routine scan. Compared the signs such as whether the verge clear or not, whether the vicinity tissue offended or not, and whether the swell lymph node appeared in the corresponding slice or not, the differences between benign and malignant tumors were statistically significant (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in density, size, whether cystis degeneration or not (P>0.05).2. Analysis of CT perfusion imagingThere were 19 benign lesions and 7 malignant lesions detected by CT perfusion imaging. The perfusion parameters of BF, BV, PS of benign tumors were higher than the malignant ones, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in MTT (P>0.05).Conclusion:Spiral CT routine scan and CT perfusion imaging are of importance in differential diagnosis between benign and malignant tumors of parotid gland.
