Objective To compare the difference between different age groups in preoperative patients with gastrointestinal cancer on nutritional status and immune function. To understand the nutrition status and immune function of the elderly patients preoperative with gastrointestinal cancer. Methods Retrospective analysis of 148 preoperative patients with gastrointestinal tumors, who were divided into two groups according to age: the elderly group(EG) of 85 cases, 63 cases of non-elderly group(NEG). Compare two groups of patients with preoperative in body weight change, nutritive index, immunization indicators. The other 50cases of benign diseases, including 10cases of mammary gland fibroma,10 cases of thyroid gland adenoma and 30 cases of indirect hernia, which dated for selective operation were fetched as blank group(BG) in the same term separately.Result On preoperation, EG group has significantly decreased body weight changes, the concentration of ALB, PAB, TF, CD3, CD4,IgA, IgM, IgG and the ratio of CD4/CD8 of EG group were less than BG group(P<0.05), while the concentrations of CD8 were higher than those in BG group (P<0.05). there were no statistic meaning on preoperative body weight change between EG group and BG group(P>0.05).Nutritional indicators: the concentration of ALB, PAB of EG group were less than NEG group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), there were no statistic meaning of TF in each group(P>0.05). Immunization indicators: there were no statistic meaning of IgA,IgM,IgG,CD3,CD4,CD8 between the EG group and NEG group(P>0.05), the concentration of TLC,CD4/CD8 of EG group were less than NEG group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Gastrointestinal tumor patients preoperative exist in large numbers from malnutrition, immune dysfunction, compared to the non-elderly group, the elderly group has worse nutritional status, even lower immune function. In nutritional indicators, albumin and pre-albumin can reflect the situation of malnutrition better, in immunization targets,CD4 + / CD8 +, can response the body's immune function accurative.
