Background:The Candida are pathogenicity fungus when the conditions are suitable, they are usually detection in normal buccal cavity, digestive canal and vagina mucosa. In recent years, the infections of Candida have been increased with the application of antibiotic, immune depressant and cytotoxic drug. Many investigate indicate that some disease of oral mucosa are releated to the infection of Candida calbicans. Fluconazol is clinically common used antimycotic drug with the chara-cteristic of low deleteriousness, broad antifungus spectra, quick and completely absorption, high permeability of blood-brain barrier, but clinical common used antifungus drugs are not satisfactory on the evaluation of antifungal spectrum and resistance. So use Chinese medicines to resistant candida have become hot. Objective:The objective of this study was to estimate in vitro Anti-candidal activity of Paeonol, Eugenol, Pseudolaric acid Berberine hydrochloride, in order to pick the best one which has the highest sensibility to oral Candida spp. Also, provide a foundation for further research and development of the anti-candidal traditional Chinese medicines. Methods:With the broth microdilution testing procedure proposed by NCCLS, the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of the four traditional Chinese herbal medicine extracts were determined in 27 clinically isolated Candida strains and 1 standard strains and Fluconazole, with ATCC 90028 used as positive control.Results:1. In the every experiment, for the ATCC 90028 the MICs of Fluconazole were 0.25μg/ml,those results accorded with the standard proposed by NCCLS M27-A2.So we can believed that the results of the experiment were reliable.2.For the Candida strains the MICs of Paeonol were 125.00μg/ml-1000.00μg/ml for C.albicans, the MICs of Eugenol were 199.5μg/ml-399.00μg/ml for C.albicans, the MICs of Pseudolaric acid B were 32.00μg/ml-1024.00μg/ml for C.albicans, the MICs of the Berberine hydrochloride were2.5μg/ml-1024.00μg/ml for C.albicans.3.Besides Euge-nol and Pseudolaric acid B has no significant differences between two drugs, the other drugs pairwise comparison has significant differences.Conclusion:1.The M27-A2 project has a good reproducibility and stabilized result, also convenient operate, need less medium and reagent, refer to bolting the anti-candidal drug.2. Paeonol,Eugenol,Pseudolaric acid Berberine hydrochloride have different anti-candidal effects on 27 strains Candida spp. The effect of berberine hydrochloride is the best.3.The traditional Chinese medicines of anti-fungus are resource generally, low toxicity, broad-spectrum, long drug action, which have a good exploitation perspective.
