ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of 3D conformal radiotherapy for esophageal carcinoma and identify prognostic factors in this patient group, and to evaluate the validity of CT-staging.MethodsTEighty esophageal cancer patients were only treated with 3D conformal radiotherapy. Their clinical data were analyzed retrospectively.ResultsThe overall 1,2,3,4,5-year survival rates were 50%,33%,18%,6%,3%, respectively. Median survival time was 13 months.Univariate analysis revealed that CT-TNM stage, THe max diameter of lesion esophagel in CT, gross tumor volume were major significant prognostic factors.Multivariate analysis confirmed that CT-TNM stage was independent prognostic factor.ConclusionsCT-TNM stage was independent prognostic factor in this study. CT-staging can guide clinical non-operative esophageal carcinoma patients thrapy in certen degree.
