To compare the clinical effect between primary suture and T-tube drainage and report our clinical experience on primary suture after laparoscopic common bile duct exploration.MethodsFrom December 2007 to December 2009,45 cases of laparoscopic common bile duct exploration were carried out in our hospital,23 of primary suture(PS) and 22 of T-tube drainage(TD). Retrospective analysis the clinical data.ResultsThere were no differences in the demographic characteristics and clinical presentations between the two groups. In the primary closure group, one patients experienced bile leakage. Respectively, one patients experienced bile leakage and two patients experienced biliary residual stones in the T-tube drainage group. No fatal case was noted. There were aslo no differences in the postoperative complications and time to removal of drain between the two groups. But the operative time, postoperative hospital stay and gastrointestinal recovery time were (101.0±23.5) minutes, (5.9±3.6)days, and (2.1±1.1) days in PS group, which was shorter than those of (132.9±43.9) min, (11.1±3.7) days, and (3.5±1.3) days in TD group (P< 0.05).ConclusionsIn the condition of strict controlling the indications, primary closure after laparoscopic common bile duct exploration is safe, efficient and feasible.
