ObjectiveTo study the expression of Livin protein and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in cholangiocarcinoma tissue and their relationship with Caspase-3.MethodsThe expression of Livin protein, VEGF and Caspase-3 were detected by immunohistochemistry SP in 80 cases of cholangiocarcinoma and 30 cases of normal bile duct tissue(from patients with other benign diseases who had cut off the bile duct).ResultsThe expression of Livin protein and VEGF in cholangiocarcinoma tissue were obviously higher than in normal bile duct tissue(P=0.00),but the expression of Caspase-3 were obviously lower than in normal bile duct tissue(P=0.04); In bile duct tissue, the expression of Livin protein and VEGF were positive correlation (r=0.532,P=0.00), the expression of Livin protein and VEGF were negative correlation with Caspase-3 (r=-0.668,P=0.00;r=-0.371,P=0.01).ConclusionLivin protein and VEGF were high expression in cholangiocarcinoma tissue with positive correlation, indicating that they may play a significant role in the growth and development of cholangiocarcinoma with synergistic action. Because they both had negative correlation with Caspase-3. indicating that they may participate in the growth and development of cholangiocarcinoma by inhibiting apoptosis.
