Objective:To discuss the correlation analysis of urinary albumin and a-rtery intima-media thickness in the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and analyse the risk factors of macrovascular disease of type 2 diabetes mellitus, in order to provide a theoretical basis for macrovascular disease. Methods:Totally 166 T2DM patients were studied, For all investigated patients it is recorded Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and laboratory test results, detail items as follow:serum uric acid(UA), total cholesterol(TC), triglycerides (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low density protein choles-terol (LDL-C), fasting blood glucose(FBG), the two-hour postprandial blood glucose (PBG2h), glycosylated haemoglobin (HbAlc),24-hour urinary albu-min(Alb). Carotid intima-media thickness(IMT) was measured by Color Doppl-er Ultrasonography in all patients, of which we divided the patients into two groups:normal carotid intima-media(IMT< 0.09cm)and thickened carotid intima-media(IMT≥0.09cm), and albumin was split into normal albumi-nuria(<30.00mg/24h)and microalbuminuria(30.00-300mg/24h). Results:1. the level of Alb and incidence rate of plaque formation in thickened IMT group is significantly higher than those with normal IMT(P< 0.05). Compared with patients of normal IMT, T2DM cases with thickened IMT were higher SBP, HbAlc and TC, but lower HDL, the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).2. For T2DM patients, the IMT was positively correlated with the level of SBP, TC, HbAlc, Alb etc; however, it was negatively corre-lated with the level of HDL.3. Logistic regression analysis of relative factors for carotid intima-media thickness shows that the value of SBP, HbAlc, HDL, Alb were selected.Conclusions:1. It is found from the study that the level of IMT of T2DM is positively correlated with Alb, therefore the revel of Alb could be a predicator for the development of IMT.2. Also it is found that the factors of SBP, HbAlc, Alb have risk impact on the development of IMT, and HDL is a protective factor for IMT thickening. From this study it suggests that smooth control of blood pressure, blood lipid, lowering urinary albumin and other measures can delay the occurrence of macro-vascular disease.
