| Objective:To assess the adjustable type of Self-made Suspension Device and conservative therapy for the treatment of thoracolumbar compression fractures with the pain score of numeric rating scale and change of Cobb's angel,Evaluate the conservative treatment of The vertebral compression fracture from thoracolumbar segment.Methods:A non-randomised clinical study was based on the concept. The patients admitted as inpatients to JiangSu Province Hospital of TCM from July 2007 to Jan 2009 with acute thoracolumbar compression fractures were enrolled. All of them were confirmed by symptoms and imaging examinations. There were no neurological deficits. They choosed the treatments voluntarily. It comprised 13 patients treated by the adjustable type of Self-made Suspension Device and 11 by conservative therapy.Primary index :pain score of Visval Analogue scale was recorded at the pre-treatment and in the post-treatment of 24 hours, 1 week,2weeks,4weeks,6weeks and 8 weeks after the reatment. Secondary index :pre-treatment and post-treatment the Cobb's angel were recorded too.Results:Patients treated by the adjustable type of Self-made Suspension Device in the pain score of Visval Analogue scale at the pre-treatment was 8.58±0.26, in the post-treatment of 24 hours, 1 week,2weeks,4weeks,6weeks and 8 weeks after the reatment were 8.01±0.21,7.23±0.23,5.42±0.28,4.33±0.21,3.35+0.22,1.55±0.23,postoperatively(P<0.05).The Cobb's angle was improved from 14.68±2.38°to 14.18±2.05°(P>0.05).Conclusion:The adjustable type of Self-made Suspension Device can provide early pain relief and effective vertebral height restoration, it also can reduce the Long-Term Bedridden Caused by complications,but it incurability the Cobb's angel.However, pillow-pad therapy with functional exercise, careful attendence, and active prevention for complications can also lead to a good result. |
