Objective:To evaluate the morphology and feasibility of C2 crossing laminar screws for Chinese people by measuring the length, width and directions of C-2 translaminar screws on the basis of Wright's technique and Jea's modification of Wright's technique.Methods.The cervical vertebrae of 27 patients were Studied on CT scans.Laminar height and thickness were measured. The thickness of the laminar(W),the length of C2 laminar screws(L),the height of C2 laminar screws(H),the length between the exit and entry point of Jea's modification of the technique(B),the angle between the direction of the screws and the sagittal plane were 0.62±0.16(cm),34.81±5.62(mm),10.06±3.18(mm),21.59±4.42(mm),24.67±4.68(°)respectively. Statistical analysis was performed using Unpaired Student t-tests(p<0.05).Results.It is feasible to place C2 crossing laminar screws in Chinese patients.Jea's modification of the technique perform is a good supplementary technique, because it is applicable to more people.
