Objective:To explore the clinical curative effects of treating the pain of cervical spondylosis with single-point acupuncture(houxi, SB) plus cervical traction, observing the change of tumor necrosis factor-αin cervical spondylosis patients' peripheral blood and researching probable treatment mechanism of it.Methods:Randomly divided 80 pain cases of cervical spondylosis into two average groups as the observation group(40 cases) and the control group(40 cases). The observation group was treated with single-point acupuncture(houxi, SI3) plus cervical traction and the control group was treated with conventional acupuncture plus cervical traction. Treating 6 days was defined as a period of treatment. One-day rest between two periods of treatment was treated as a break. After the two periods of treatment, explore the clinical acesodyne effects of treatment, measuring the pain level of the patients by SF-MPQ and observing the change of tumor necrosis factor-alpha in patients' peripheral blood.Results:(1) There were no statistic significant difference in the compare of the content of the two groups' TNF-αbefore treatment(P>0.05). After treatment, the two groups' content of TNF-αwas significant dropped, having statistic remarkable distinction in comparing with the pre-treatment content of TNF-a(P<0.05);but there was no statistic significant difference in the compare of the contents of TNF-αbetween the observation group and the control group(P >0.05).(2) Before treatment, there were no statistic significant difference in evaluating the degree of pain with SF-MPQ between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the pain scores of the two groups were significant dropped, having statistic significant distinction in comparing with the pre-treatment pain scores(P<0.05);but there was no statistic significant difference in the compare of the degree of pain between the observation group and the control group(P>0.05).And the pain scores of the observation group fell earlier than the control group's in the whole period of treatment.(3)After treatment, the compare of the two groups' acesodyne effects had not statistic significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1) These two kinds of treatment can reduce the content of TNF-αin patients' peripheral blood.(2) Though the observation group's curative effects of pain appeared later than the control group's, the two kinds of treatment can get similar acesodyne effect. They both can improve the symptom of pain.(3) Single-point acupuncture (houxi, SI3) plus cervical traction could get the similar curative effects of conventional acupuncture plus cervical traction. This method can get good curative effects through acupuncturing just one point, and it is easy to master. This kind of therapy is worthy to be generalized.
