| Objective To compare the clinical effect of the Slide-Traction plate and common plate in the treatment of epiphyseal injury and adjacent fracture of distal femur,and providing experiment and clinical data for safe clinical practice in the Slide-Traction plate.Methods Between June 2007 and December 2008,39 cases of epiphyseal injury and adjacent fracture of distal femur were treated in our department.With the Slide-Traction plate were applied in 17 cases,and common plate in 22 cases.Their functional and radiographic outcomes were collected to compare the differences in bone union time,structural changes of the internal fixation,lose degree of kneel flexure,varus or valgus angulation of knee joint, shortening deformity of extremity,Schatzker-Lambert functional score system,and pain, symptoms,function in daily living,function in sport and recreation,knee related quality of life were used to evaluate results at 6 months after operation.Results All the patients were followed up for averagely 10.7 month(from 6 to 17 months)which revealed bone union of the fracture in all cases with a mean healing time of 11.7 weeks in the experimental group,and 13 weeks in the control group.According to Schatzker-Lambert functional score system,the postoperative knee functions were scored,the excellent and good rate of the experimental group was 82.35%(14/17),and the control group was 31.82%(7/22).The Slide-Traction plates were sliding with the growth of epiphyseal (mean,5.07mm),while the common plates were found to dehiscence(mean,4.71°) on photographes.There was significant difference in bone union time,lose degree of kneel flexure,varus or valgus angulation of knee joint,shortening deformity of extremity, Schatzker-Lambert functional score system,and pain,symptoms,function in daily living, knee related quality of life,and there was no significant difference in function in sport and recreation.Conclusion For the epiphyseal injury and adjacent fracture of distal femur,the Slide-Traction plate is of significant value due to rigid fixation,sliding with the growth of epiphyseal,and the contentment ratio effectively. |
