Objective: To observe the therapeutic effects of the combination of mupirocin and DongFang No.1 ointment in treating residual burn wounds. Find out the feasibility and advantage of the treatment for residual burn wounds by the two drugs. Methods: This study involved 32 patients (96 residual burn wounds) who were treated in our department from July, 2008 to February, 2009. Using homebody comparison, the wounds were divided into three groups: the experimental group was handled with both mupirocin and DongFang No.1 ointment; while the control group1 and control group2 were treated with only mupirocin ointment and DongFang No. 1 ointment separately. Observation was made in the three groups, including the healing time, the healing rate, the virus-clearance, et al. The statistical work was done with SPSS for Windows 11.5 software by t-test and x~2 -test.Results: Clinical trials manifest that compare to the control group1, the experimental group had better condition in healing time, healing rate, granulation condition (p< 0. 05) . The virus-clearance between the two groups were similar; Compare to the control group2, the experimental group had better condition in healing time, healing rate and the virus-clearance (p<0. 05) . The granulation condition between the two groups were similar. Conclusion: Treating the residual burn wounds with the combination of mupirocin and DongFang No.1 ointment can control the infection, prevent the wounds from deepening, shorten the healing time. Treating the residual burn wounds with the combination of the two drugs is proved to be safe and effective.
