| Objective: To observe the effect of Folium Ginkgo tablets combined betaloc tablets on blood pressure and the quality of life (QOL) of primary hypertensive patients. Methods: 116 hypertensive patients, graded class 1 and 2, were treated with placebo for two weeks and then were randomly divided into control group ( betaloc control group) and Intervention group (Folium Ginkgo tablets combined with betaloc tablets treatment group). Both groups were treated with betaloc tablets, a tablet at one time ( containing metoprolol tartrate 50mg per tablet), once or twice a day; while Intervention group were added with Folium Ginkgo tablet, two tablets at one time (containing total Ginkgo flavonoid glycosides 9.6mg per tablet, ginkgolides and bilobalide 2.4 mg per tablet), three times a day , and time of therapy was 24 weeks . The MOS 36-item short form health survey Scale was used as a benchmark for designing the QOL test questionnaire .Results: (l)The anti-hypertensive effects were favorable in both groups, the overall relief efficacy rates for control and Intervention groups were 86.67% and 89.29% respectively, 50.9% and 51.8% of patients achieved expected blood pressure in both groups respectively. There was no significant differences in anti-hypertensive effect between two groups (P>0.05). (2)Hypertensive patients showed low QOL scores compared with the healthy subjects (P<0.05 or P<0.01); The QOL scores of the two hypertensive groups were increased after treatment. Based on the MOS 36-item short form health survey Scale from 8 aspect dimensions, QOL scores of Intervention group were significant higher than those before treatment (P<0.05 or P<0.01); On the three aspects of physical functioning, general health, mental health, QOL scores were higher than those before treatment in the control group (P<0.05). The other five aspects of QOL scores showed no significant difference (P> 0.05). Comparing the two groups QOL scores on general health, mental health, it showed no significant difference (P>0.05). Comparing other six aspects dimension, QOL scores of the Intervention group were significant higher than the control group (P <0.05).Conclusion: Compared with the single therapy using betaloc tablets treatment of primary hypertensive patients with Folium Ginkgo tablets combined with betaloc tablet showed better effect on improving clinical symptoms. Folium Ginkgo tablets could obviously improve long-dated QOL of hypertensive patients. |
