Job Burnout among nurses is a common symptom, if not intervention, it is bound to affect the individual nurse's career development and a healthy lifestyle, and the level of hospital management and service quality improvement will be affected too. In this study, first the nurses are divided into three groups according to the level of the Job burnout, the difference of score are explored in the five dimensions of Big Five Personality. And then we attempt to further explore the relationship of big personality with job burnout by using multiple linear regression analysis to look forward to expanding the space of the personality psychology applying in scientific management in hospital, providing the theory basis to deliver the problem of Job Burnout, getting more reasonable staff, and improving scientific management level in hospital.483 nurses in Hefei took part in the research with adoption of Big Five Personality Inventory, Maslach Burnout Inventory-general Survey and a demographic information questionnaire including some variables such as age, gender, work experience, the nature of employment, marital status, educational level, job title, income, and work units. Data analysis figures out that:1 There were some nurses with Job Burnout.388 nurses have got Job Burnout were found in the survey. 252 of them were in low level of Job Burnout, 94 of them were in medium level of Job Burnout and 42 of them were in high level of Job Burnout. The detection rates were 80.33%, 52.17%, 19.46% and 8.70%.2 There is significant differences among nurses with the different level of Job burnout in the Big Five personality traits(p<0.01), in Extroversion, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness ,nurses with high level of Job Burnout had low scores and nurses with low level of Job Burnout had high scores. But in Neuroticism, nurses with medium level of Job Burnout had highest scores; nurses with high level of Job Burnout had higher scores, while the nurses with low level of Job Burnout had low scores.3 In the scale of effect on nurses'Job Burnout, There was significant interaction effect between the Big Five Personality factors and the demographic variables such as monthly income age, marital status, type of work, education, job title, work sections.4 When the related demographic statistics variable controlled, the big five personality were significantly predictors of Nurses'Job Burnout. Exactly, Neuroticism was an effective predictor of Exhaustion (Beta=-0.21,p<0.01),Neuroticism Extroversion Agreeableness and conscientiousness were effective predictors of Depersonalization (Beta=-0.16,Beta=-0.22,Beta=-0.27,Beta=-0.26,p<0.01).And Neuroticism Extroversion and conscientiousness were effective predictors of Reduced Personal Accomplishment (Beta=0.19,Beta=-0.32,Beta=-0.18,p<0.01). But Openness can't predict job burnout effectively in this survey.Big five personality's traits was a powerful predictor of job burnout. This should be attached to effective intervention and the selection of nurses in hospital. As for the individual of the nurses, they should pay attention to the cultivation of their own personality.
