Objective:To evaluate clinic significance of tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α) and interleukin-8(IL-8) in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) associating respiratory failure, and study the relationship with indicators of arterial blood gas. Methods:The serum were collected from 30 patients with acute exacerbation of COPD associating respiratory failure before and after treatment. The levels of TNF-αand IL-8 in serums were measured by radioimmunoassay. The oxygen cent presses(PaO2) and the carbondiooxide cent presses(PaCO2) were examined in arterial blood.Results:(1)After and before therapy, the COPD patients showed a significant decrease in TNF-α(1.252±0.247μg/L vs 0.798±0.228μg/L) and IL-8(0.736±0.206 ng/ml vs 0.599±0.038ng/ml,P<0.01).(2) The levels of the TNF-αand IL-8 in serum were negatively correlated with PaO2(r1=-0.530,P<0.01; r2=-0.642,P<0.01),and the levels of TNF-αand IL-8 were positively correlated with PaCO2(r1=0.724,P<0.01;r2=0.845, P<0.O1).Conclusions:TNF-αand IL-8 are involved in airway inflammation of COPD,and may be important for analyzing and treating COPD. |
