Objective To explore the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor in human sarcomatoid carcinoma, its relationship with clinical pathologic characters, and the feasibility of EGFR in molecular targeting treatment.Materials and Methods Expression of EGFR in Forty-five cases of SC from various anatomical sites were studied with immunohistochemical method.Resultsâ‘ The percentage of EGFR overexpression in SC cases was 62.2%(28/45), which was much higher than that of the control group.â‘¡Its expression was not correlated with sex, age, tumor size or distant metastasis. The positive expression rate of EGFR was statistically correlated with the lymph node metastasis and clinical stage.Conclusionâ‘ Overexpression of EGFR in human sarcomatoid carcinoma suggests that it may play an important role in SC invasion and metastasis.â‘¡High positive rate of EGFR expression in SC provides a powerful theoretical basis for the molecular targeting treatment in SC. |
