Causes And Management Of 56 Patients With Pericardial Effusion

Objective:To investigate the cause of pericardial efusion,analyze the distribution characteristic of its etiopathogenisis,and promote the diagnosis process and treatment.Methods:Retrospective analysis of 56 cases with pericardial efusion in the second affilleted hospital of ZheJiang Universisty from Jan,2006 to Dec,2008.Results:51 cases(8 4.21%)were correctly diagnosed.the causes of pericardial efusion included tumor(16 cases,28.6%),tuberculosis(13 cases,23.2%),heart failure(10 cases,17.9%),hypothyroidism(7 cases,12.5%) and connective tissue disease(5cases, 8.9%) While 5 other cases(8.9%)have find no definite etiological factor.The echocardiography is the most popular method of confirming the disease of pericardial effusion.Pericardialcentesis and pericardial extended catheter drainage are proper ways to save the patients who have the symptomatic of pericardial efusion and cardiac tamponad.Conclusions:to pay special attention to the causes and clinical classification of pericardial efusion,just for the directive significance to the management of pericardial efusion.
