Objective To investigate the effect of hemostatic on blood coagulation function and the deep venous thrombosis after abdominal surgery. Methods Sixty cases undergoing gastrointestinal surgery were divided into two groups (n=30 each): hemostatic group and control group.Hemostatic was used on the same and the next day after the operation of hemostatic group. D-dimer(D-D),tissue plasminogen activator(t-PA),plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1),plasma prothrombin time (PT),activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT),thrombin time (TT),platelet count(PLT) were measured before and at 24 hr and 48 hr after the operation .Color ultrasound examination was carried out to investigate deep venous thrombosis on 5 to 7 day after the operation. Results (1)Significant increased D-D,t-PA,PAI-1,prolonged PT,APTT, shorten TT and reduced PLT occurred after the operation as compare with the baseline before the operation in both groups and the PAI-1 increased more significant than t-PA.(2)However,PT,APTT the D-D,t-PA,PAI-1 significantly increased, and TT was significantly shorter in hemostatic group than in control group after the operation and also the PAI-1 increased more significant than t-PA.(3)The incidence of deep venous thrombosis in the lower limbs was higher after the operation in hemostatic group than in control group , 7 cases and 3 cases respectively. (4)Preventive use of hemostatic after operation could not reduce drainage through the conclusion. Conclusion Hypercoagulable state unusually appears in post abdominal surgery. Application of the hemostatic may aggravate hypercoagulability and increase the incidence of deep venous thrombosis in lower limbs for the abdominal surgery,it must be cautious to use preventive hemostatic.
