| This investigation was conducted to determine the epidemic characteristics of Overexertional lumbar pain(OLP) of the recruits during Basic training(BT) and to identify potential risk factors for targeted prevention efforts. The cases of these injuries were further studied in order to provide preventive measures for the military.Epidemiologic data were collected on the recruit population from various sources during BCT 2007 at Shanxi and Fujian Province , involving 1405 recruits. Data analysis for this prospective study included cumulative incidences, chi2 analysis, and logistic regression. The incidence of OLP was 5.8%. Risk factors for injuries included the case history of lumber injury, lumber injury in many times before, chronic lumber pain. The cases occurred in 11 drills (throwing grenade, running ect.).The rate of throwing grenade is the most(32.9%) of them. And the rates of horizontal bar and parallel bars drll is 14.1%,the rate of running is 12.9%,and tactics training is 11.8%. To decrease the rate of OLP, we should train personally , and step by step during training. At the same time, we should realize that it is important to reinforce the training of lumbar muscle, and aim directly to increase the accommodatively training before the drill and slacken lumbar muscle after the drill. We expect to avoid the disequilibrium of the lumbar muscle strength ,and accordingly to decrease the incidence of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc ultimum. |
