The Application Status Of Proseal Laryngeal Mask Airway In Clinic

Standard Laryngeal Mask Airway(SLMA)has been used more extensively in clinic as its gradual improvement and the accumulation of its using experience. In particular, because of the invention of proseal laryngeal mask airway (PLMA), which can make an effective isolation of digestive tract and respiratory, the airway management has been raised to a new level. PLMA can be inserted into gastric tube to drainage gastric juice and prevent gastric distension as well as gastric reflux and aspiration. And moreover, the ventilation mask has better sealing performance as it matches the throat better. So it can provide higher airway seal pressure for positive airway pressure ventilation. PLMA, as a new non-invasive tool to open the airway, is applicable to the most part of operations for its extensive indications. So PLMA is applied more widely and safely in clinic compare to CLMA.This paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages and the clinical application of the PLMA, in order to grasp better of its indications and contraindications, and to make better use of the PLMA on serving patients.
