It is Severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)that is a common acute symptom in abdomen. This disease have the following characteristics: developing quickly, changing fast, treating difficultly and varying methods in clinic. In recent years, the selected literatures at home and abroad of SAP treatment are reviewed. That the treatment of SAP has strict standards and a series of comprehensive treatment are showed. At present, we have get the same conclusion which is individual treatment of the conservative treatment strategies. The treatment of SAP's development and evolution can be broadly divided into three stages, 1960's~1980's during the 20th century, creating a means of early surgical treatment of SAP is the first management about SAP. In the late 1980's to late 1990's, individual treatment programs and operative methods in the late phase of SAP lead to good clinical efficiency; From the late 1990's to the early 21st century, the diagnosis of fulminant acute pancreatitis (FAP) is established. On the base of pathophysiological changes of FAP, effective treatment is early surgery. The three stages on treatment of SAP development and evolution reflects the more deep we have study the SAP's treatment, the more advanced we are.we have achive better reponse than old years. In this paper, we summarize the basic treatment of SAP, the approach of surgery, nutritional support, the use of antibiotics, the treatment of dialysis, expansiving volume, letting pancrease to rest, preventing complications, such as traditional Chinese medicine, etc. We dicuss about the standardized method of SAP, raising the successive rate of SAP, providing new ideas to clinic.
