Objective: Under the guidance of the PCPA theory,so as to construct advocacy ability of the public health students in Shanxi Medical University about tobacco control;By helding the "policy advocacy" activities,to set up the regulation at the campus; Exploring possible models about School Tobacco-Control work,to provide a scientific basis for the establishment of smoke-free campus.Method: Taking one-year tobacco control activities to the 2004 public health students under the guidance of the PCPA theory.Using the same questionnaires to investigate the attitude and behaviors related to the baseline,mid and the end of the 2004 students in Shanxi medical university, Hebei Medical University which carried out the baseline and the end of the investigation is the control group. Using the evaluation method of process and effectiveness.In the process of evaluation,evaluating the tobacco control advocacy phasic activities;In the effectiveness of evaluation,collecting the views of students and teachers and evaluating the effectiveness through a questionnaire survey,in order to evaluate the effectiveness of PCPA theory.Result: The evaluation of the process suggest that students of tobacco control programs have acquired higher interest,after tobacco control policy advocacy activities,School of Public Health issued I-Shan Medical University (2008) paper on the December 15th,Trade Union Committee of Shanxi Medical University, regarding further implementation of" Smoke-Free Campus "notice.Through the tobacco control advocacy activities,smoking rates among students is 11.11 percent of the baseline survey dropped to 9.09 percent end of the investigation in the intervention group;the smoking among the teachers also declined,from 70.59 percent dropping to 61.11 percent,the factors of smoking-related Logistic regression analysis showed that the intervention group the impact of factors of smoking,sex, mother occupation,educational level of mothers with statistical significance.The survey showed that the behavior, the attitude and self-efficacy has improved, the interest has declined in the intervention group, for students and teachers of the qualitative interview results show that students have mastered the tobacco control skills; students and teachers supportive the tobacco control activities and suggested that the Tobacco Control Activity should continue to strengthen the results.Survey shows that 94.95 percent of public health students approve set up a smoke-free campus;84.85 percent public health students agree to ban smoking;80.81 percent of public health students have expressed the interest in tobacco control activities; 79.80 percent of the students willing to engage in some anti-smoking activities;74.75 percent of public health students expressed that they willing to find a job-related Tobacco Control. Tobacco Control in the faculty attitude measurement,the attitude has improved,93.1 percent of faculty approve to implement a smoke-free campus medical school,89.6 percent of public health professionals agree to do the example in refusing smoking,82.7 percent of the faculty agree to ban smoking in public places.Conclusion: After intervention of PCPA theory, the students and teacthers'smoking rate has declined in the intervention group;the students behavior, attitude, interest, self-efficacy were changed;tobacco control behavior, attitude and self-efficacy has improved,the interest has dropped,the faculty attitude has improved,the policy of the tobacco control is no implementation.The students'attitude for tobacco control are high,but to develop advocacy activity and enhance their advocacy ability of tobacco control,knowledge transfer,behavior prompting and social support,etc.That all should be done more.
