| Objective:scientific papers are important demonstrations to evaluate the scientific research level of research institutions.The quantity and quality of the published scientific papers of an institution are the direct reflection of its research capabilities and strengths.This research retrieved all the scientific papers published by Chinese colleges and universities from CNKI on the disciplines of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and its subordinate fields,and the scientific papers were applied statistics,analyzed and evaluated year by year,designed to reveal the annual research strengths and academic progress of our Chinese colleges and universities, and their comprehensive strength of scientific papers production within these five years.We also analyzed and evaluated the papers according to subordinate disciplines,aiming at demonstrating the research strength and level of different universities on different disciplines,discovering their advantages and deficient,and trying to achieve a balanced development.Methods:The research data are derived from China Journal Full-text Database(CJFD) of CNKI,and the quantity of the scientific papers published by Chinese colleges and universities on the disciples of Public Health and Preventive Medicine from the year of 2003 to 2007 were retrieved from CNKI as the scientific paper output quantity of each college and university.In order to ensure the recall ratio,a wide range of retrieval was taken.After removing the repeated and unrelated papers artificially,27 universities,including Peking University,Sichuan University, Fudan University and so on,were selected and their published scientific papers were applied comprehensive assessment.Rank Sum Ratio was adopted as the statistical method my thesis.Firstly,the 27 universities were taken as the evaluating object,and their scientific paper output quantity on subordinate disciplines as assessment indicators in order to assess the level of their scientific research on the disciplines of Public Health and Preventive Medicine annually;secondly,the 27 universities were taken as the evaluating object as well,and their annual scientific paper output quantity on certain subordinate disciplines as assessment indicators to evaluate their scientific research level and strength on various subordinate disciplines.Results:After applying statistical analysis through Rank Sum Ratio on the scientific papers published by the 27 selected colleges and universities from the year of 2003 to 2007,we got a annual list of the scientific paper output capacity of different Chinese colleges and universities; then the scientific paper output quantity of the 27 selected colleges and universities on the subordinate disciplines of Preventive Medicine were assessed as well through Rank Sum Ratio, and a conclusion was also drawn on a list of the scientific paper output capacity of different Chinese colleges and universities.Conclusion:After applying statistical analysis through Rank Sum Ratio on the scientific papers published by the 27 selected colleges and universities from the year of 2003 to 2007,it is known that some universities,like Peking University,SiChuan University,Fudan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology,possess superior power in paper output and their capabilities in scientific research are stronger on the disciplines of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.Then the scientific paper output quantity of the 27 selected colleges and universities on the subordinate disciplines of Preventive Medicine were assessed as well through Rank Sum Ratio,and a conclusion was drawn on the research strength and level of each university on each subordinate discipline:The Fourth Military Medical University and Fudan University excel in Epidemiological and health statistics,Fudan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology perform well in occupational and environmental medicine,The Third Military Medical University and Zhongshan University acquit themselves very well on Nutrition and Food Hygiene,Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Anhui Medical University receive good marks on Child health and maternal and child health care less and The Third Military Medical University and Jilin University have possessed outstanding achievements in Health Toxicology.A horizontal comparison was made to discover that the annual scientific paper output quantities of each universities within the 5 years are relatively the same,but their paper output capacity on various disciplines are uneven,so different universities should strive to bring out their best and cover their shortage for the development and progress in all areas of endeavor. |
