| Objective To assess the feasibility, safety and result of the sigmoidorectal (Mainz II) pouch for urinary diversion in patients with bladder cancer. Methods From August. 2004 to August. 2008 , after total cystectomy , 46 patients was performed with the sigma rectum pouch ( Mainz pouchⅡ). Mainz pouchⅡwas accomplished by an antimesenteric splitting and side to side anastomosis of the rectosigmoid over a length of 20~4cm. Submucosal tunnel technique was used for antireflux ureteral implantation. Results The volume of new pouch was 275~425ml, Appearance of intestinal fistula in two patients, wound infection developed in 3patients. One patient could not continent during all the day, there patients were incontinent during the night. Appearance of backstreaming in two patients. Hydronephrosis developed in 3 (6.52% ) of 46 patients. Relief obstruction by operation in one patient. There was no clinically evident metabolic acidosis, hypopotassemia and colorectal cancer. Conclusion The Mainz PouchⅡureterosigmoidostomy is simple and reliable as a viable alternative for continent urinary diversion. |
