Object:Establish the influencing factors of the frozen-thawed embryo's quality after thawing. And to study whether the ages, the origins of sterility, the ovarian stimulation protocols, and fertilization protocols will influence the survival of frozen-thawed embryos.Methods:1152 consecutive frozen-thawed embryo transfer(FET)cycles from 2005 January 1st to 2008 December 31st in ART center of SRRShaw hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Embryos were cryopreserved using slow freezing protocol, and thawed for transfer according to stepwise protocol.Analyze the survival rate of the embryos, the good embryos and also the non-good embryos. And all the data were grouped by the ages, the origins of sterility, the ovarian stimulation protocols, and fertilization protocols. Results:There are 3360 embryos in the 1152 cycles before freezing. The total survival rate is 90.51%(2951/3360).The good quality embryos' survival rate is(2029/2172, 93.37%),and the non-good quality embryos' is(922/1188,77.60%).There is no difference in the embryo survival rate and the good embryo survival rate between group<30,group 30-35 and group>35 that grouping by age. While the non-good quality embryos' survival rate in group<30 is significantly lower than in group 30-35(73.81% vs 80.48%,P<0.05).The non-good quality embryos' survival rate the short protocol cycle group is significantly higher than in the long protocol cycle group(86.59%vs 75.44%,P<0.05).There is no difference in the embryo survival rate and the good embryo survival rate between the short protocol cycle group and the long protocol cycle group(P>0.05).The embryo survival rate in the azoospermia group(90.54%)and the teratozoospermia group(91.83%)are significantly higher than in the tube group(85.94%) and the ovulation failure group(84.77%).The good embryos' quality rate in the ovulation failure group(90.00%)is significantly lower than in the azoospermia group and the oligo-athenospermia group(94.66%).And there is no difference between the other groups. The embryo survival rate, the good embryo survival rate in the ICSI group(only treated with ICSI)compared with the IVF group(only treated with IVF)is (89.62%vs 87.40%,94.55%vs 93.27%,P>0.05),there is no significant difference. And non-good embryo survival rate in ICSI group is significantly higher than in IVF group(82.62%vs 74.48%,P<0.05).Conclusion:We concluded that pre-cryopreservation embryo quality is the major factor that affects the the survival rate of the frozen-thawed embryos,to choose the good quality of the embryos to freeze can result high survival rate. The survival rate of the frozen-thawed embryos has no directly association with ages. The quality of the ovum may be more important to the survival rate than the sperm.ICSI technic may also polish up the embryos' quality, and makes higher survival rate of frozen-thawed embryos.
