| Purpose:To evaluate the effect of Laparoscopic surgery plus XELOX as adjuvant chemotherapy, this retrospective study is designed to analyze the safety profile and the average length of stay comparing laparoscopic operation plus XELOX with conventional open surgery plus mFOLFOX6 as adjuvant chemotherapy.Patients and Methods:33 Patients with stageâ…¡/â…¢colorectal cancer receiving Laparoscopic surgery plus XELOX or open surgery plus mFOLFOX6 from January 2006 to December 2008 were selected. The safety profile, dose modification and average length of stay were compared in both groups. Results:The average length of stay was shorter in laparoscopic surgery plus XELOX group. And patients in this group also experienced less all-grades abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, stomatitis, intestinal obstruction, fatigue or asthenia, neutropenia, leucopenia and hyperbilirubinemia, while One patient experienced grade 2 hand-foot syndrome. In open surgery plus mFOLFOX6 group no hand-foot syndrome happened. The rates of toxicity-related withdrawals and cycle delays because of adverse effects in laparoscopic surgery plus XELOX group were slightly lower than the open surgery plus mFOLFOX6 group. Conclusion:Laparoscopic surgery plus XELOX provided shortened average length of stay and slightly lower rates of adverse effects. However,to achieve a definite conclusion, more patients are still required to join this study. |
