Objective:To evaluate the feasibility and safety of laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Methods: From Mar 2006 to Dec 2008,seventy-four patients with gastric cancer had been received laparoscopic gastrectomy . TNM staging showed that 3 cases were in stage 0, 17 in stage Ia,7 in stage Ib,8 in stageⅡ,15 in stageⅢa,13 in stageⅢb,and 11 in stageⅣ. After resecting the stomach and involved lymph nodes by laparoscopy, The samples were removed and the digestive tract reconstructed through a short upper abdominal incision. Results: seventy-four cases had laparoscopic surgery performed successfully. Among of them, radical total gastrectomy was performed in 35 cases, the operating time was 160-245min,the mean time was (210.3±42.5)min.The mean numbers of harvested lymph nodes were (19.5±4.2).The mean time was (3.9±1.4)d for anal aerofluxus. Distal subtotal gastrectomy was 28 cases. the operating time was 145-220min,the mean time was (185.2±30.6)min.The mean numbers of harvested lymph nodes were (16.6±4.0).The mean time was (3.1±1.3)d for anal aerofluxus. Radical total gastrectomy combined with splenectomy was performed in 1 cases . Palliative gastrectomy was performed in 8 cases, included Palliative total gastrectomy was in 7 cases and palliative distal subtotal gastrectomy was in 1 cases. The ostoperative morbidity was 9 casea(9/74,11.2%). Conclusion: Laparoscopic gastrectomy is a feasible, safe and minimally invasive treatment and deserved application extensively. The short-term outcomes of the procedure is favorable, but the long-term outcome remains further research.
