The characteristic of Osteoporosis is bone mass reduced, bone micro-structure degraded, which results in bone fragility increased and fracture easily.Osteoporosis is a systemic disease, commonly found in postmenopausal women and elderly people. Osteoporotic compression fractures often co-exist for many segments, and mostly jumps, which is difficult to treat, and has a highly fatality rate. The traditional treatment methods have many complications, the effect is not ideal. Along with the development of medical imaging and materials technology, low back pain caused by osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures can be treated by the minimally invasive percutaneous vertebroplasty or percutaneous kyphoplasty. This method with few complications is simple, effective and security. However, only fully grasp the technology can achieve the desired effect. In this paper, the overview of osteoporotic compression fracture, various material properties of bone cement, bone cement usage, patient selection, preoperative preparation, efficacy evaluation, and prevention of various complications , etc. are reviewed.
