Objectives In order to explore the correlation between genetic polymorphism of estrogen receptorαgene PvuⅡ,XbaⅠpolymorphism and their susceptibility to Multiple Sclerosis(MS) in female patients of Yunnan Han subjects. Methods Identified the polymorphism of estrogen receptorαgene PvuⅡand XbaⅠin 24 female MS patients who were at their childbearing-age, contrasting with 30 normal women who were matched in age,sex and ethinic,by using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) method, and analysed the correlations between polymorphism of gene PvuⅡand XbaⅠand the susceptibility to MS.Results The distributing frequencies of P alletic gene in MS group and contrasting group were 45.8%and 26.7%respectively and had signifecent difference (X~2= 4.296,0.05>P );while the distribution frequencies of X alletic gene in MS group and contrasting group were 22.9%,16.7%respectively and had no significant difference(X~2=0.665,P>0.05 ).Conclusions There is correlation between ER PvuⅡgene and the susceptibility to MS in female patients og Yunnan Han people, possiblely,it is the one of susceptible gene to MS among Yunnan Han women, and P alletic gene is more susceptible to MS in women of Yunnan province who carry is.There is no signcficant difference between MS women of Han people in Yunnan province whose XbaⅠenzyme-cutting polymorphism were positive and normale women, combining gene analyze show there are no signifecant difference of distribution of respeotive gene.
