Woman's And Doctor's Knowledge, Attitudes And Beliefs About HPV Vaccination In Macau

Objective:To assess the knowledge and attitudes of Human papillomavirus(HPV) vaccination by Macau(SAR) women and analyze its effected factors;it also assess Macau's doctor,and the state of prescription,evaluated the development of HPV vaccine in Macau.Method:Two questionnaire surveys for the knowledge and attitudes of HPV vaccination was carried out in August to December 2008,1716 women aged over age 15 and 108 doctors were drawn out in Macau(SAR) by convenience sampling.The software SPSS 13.5 statistically analyzes the data.Results:Women in Macau(SAR) have some knowledge of HPV vaccination, 47.1%responses have known HPV,76.7%responses have known HPV vaccine, 35.4%acknowledged that HPV might lead to cervical cancer.Overall,38.4%women and 43.4%mother would accept herself or her daughter to vaccinated.According to the results of multiple logistic regression,the effected factors of acceptance of HPV Vaccination are age,income,career,personal protection,afraid to suffer from cervical cancer,source of vaccine,and supposed its too old or too young to vaccinated. Besides,most of Macau's doctor have middle to high level of knowledge. About 60%doctors support the vaccination,mainly reason is due to cervical cancer become popular and younger trend,it is necessary to enhance the prevention,they also evaluated the disadvantage of vaccination is so expensive.Moreover,on the promption,84.2%doctors have recommended the vaccine to patient,65%feel diffcult to prompt.Almost 70%have provided vaccination to less than 10 person,only 6.4% have provided to 51 to 100 person.Conclusion:1.Nowadays,the promotion about HPV and HPV vaccination is effective in Macau, 50%women have middle to high level of knowledge in this questionnaire survey.2.There are half of women don't accept or clear to vaccinate,it reflects that a number of women in Macau are careful to vaccinate,they stand on the fence.3.Macau's doctor have well-knowledge about HPV and HPV vaccination,family doctor is lower grade than Obstetrician/gynecologist,it should be improved.4.Most of doctors are optimistic about the development of HPV vaccination in Macau,but the the rate of vaccination is low,it can be assessed the development of HPV vaccination isn't desirable now.
