Hanging Alar And Large Nostril: Diagnosis,Classification And Reshaping

Objective:to investigate the influential factors and morphological characteristics of hanging alar and big nostrils,and then to search the suitable treatment methods.Methods:firstly,to study a groups of 232 cases we had treated including 197 females and 35 males ranging in age from 15 to 46 years after the year of 2003.we remain the facial positive,lateral and basal position pictures of all these cases.Secondly,to pick up the cases whose apex nasi and columela nasi are at normal anatomical position including those who had accepted rhinoplasty of other nasal position apart from nasal ala into the study class.It is not include those who have labionasals scar or congenital deformity.47 cases accepted alar reshaping and 58 cases accepted nostril reshaping。According to these clinical data,we conclude the definition and classification of hanging alar and big nostrils to help us choose the suitable operative methods to deal with it.Result:we divide the hanging alar into two types of hanging of the margin and hanging of the basal part,each of which is subdivided into mild,middle, severe degree.We also divide the big nostrils into three types of expanding alar,expanding basis nostrils,compound,each of which is subdivided into mild, middle,severe degree.14 cases of hanging alar were followed up and got the satisfactory postoperative affection.We got the same results on the 7 cases of big nostrils.Conclusion:under the precise classification of the hanging alar and big nostrils,we can choose the suitable operative methods to improve the nasal contour.The operative methods have the characteristics of mini-wounds, concealed scar,and low incidence of complications.
