The Expression And Significance Of VEGF And BFGF In Ulcerative Colitis(UC)

Objective:The purpose of this study is to investigate the expression of basic Fibroblast Growth Factor(bFGF) and Vascular Endocelial Growth Factor(VEGF) in the intestinal tisses of UC patients,and compare the expression of this two factors between patients with UC and patients with normal intestinal tisses,and compare the expression fo the factors between mild,moderate and severe stage of active UC patients,thus to study the effect of this factors on the mechanism of occrruance of UC and its significance.Materals and Methods:32 patients diagnosed as UC are involved in this study,who are all patients of our hospital from Jan,2006 to May,2007,males 14 cases and females 18 cases,aged from 21 to 56 years old,with average age of 28.20±8.13 years.24 cases are involved in normal controlled group,who are choosed from patients with exact diagnosis of IBS by 2000 RomaⅡdiagnosis standard,males 15 cases and females 9 cases,with average age of 27.12±9.02 years.No significant statistical difference between this two classes(P＞0.05).The diagnosis of UC is defined by clinical symptoms,endoscopic and histological examination,according to diagnostic standard of 2001 Chinese Society Of Gastroenterology,and all the trial group patients are divided into mild stage with 8 cases, moderate stage with 10 cases and sever stage with 14 cases.The expression of VEGF and bFGF were checked with immunohistochemistry method,and the stactistics analysis were done to evaluate whether there are significant difference between those stagement.Results:1) number of the positive expression of VEGF in the active group of UC is (60.34±5.13),the number in normal group is(28.24±3.14),the positive number of VEGF is significantly increase in UC group than in control group(P＜0.01).2) number of the positive expression of bFGF in the active group of UC is(91.23±4.08),the number in normal group is(20.12±3.05),so the positive number of bFGF is significantly increase in UC group than in control group(P＜0.01).3) numbers of positive expression of VEGF in mild,moderate and severe stage of active UC patients are(56.72±4.14),(59.75±3.24),(62.35±1.46) respectively, there is no statistics difference between those three group(P＞0.05),4) numbers of positive expression of bFGF in mild,moderate and severe stage of active UC patients are(85.31±3.24),(89.13±2.59),(93.34±1.78) respectively, there is no statistics difference between those three group(P＞0.05),Conclusion:1.The expression of VEGF and bFGF in the intestinal tissese of active UC patients are both increased compared with normal control group.2.The expression of VEGF and bFGF in the intestinal tissese of active UC patients have no statistical difference in different midl,moderate and severe stagement,no matter which group they belong.
