Objective:To evaluate the efects and possible mechanism of ATP-Mgcl2 on spinal cord ischemic injury in rabbits. Methods:The model of spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion in rabbits was established according to the description of Tetik.30 rabbits were randomly divided into sham operation group(A) ischemia-reperfusion group(B) and ATP-Mgcl2 group(C).In group B and C,the infrarenal aorta was clamped for 40min followed by 48 hours reperfusion.ATP-Mgcl2(4ml / kg·h) was injected 10min before clamping in group C,and 0.9%Saline was used as a control in the other groups. The plasma concentrations of Maleic Dialdehyde(MDA), Superoxide Dismutase(SOD),were assayed before clamping(C0),before unclamping (C40),and at 1 hour(R1) after unclamping. After operation, the neurologic out comes were evaluated by blind method. The morphology of the spinal cord was observed.Results:(1)The concentrations of MDA after ischemia-reperfusion in group B were increased significantly compared with those before clamping and those in group A(P<0.01),which in group C were lower significantly than those in group B(P<0.05),but not in group A.(2)The activity of SOD after ischemia-reperfusion was lower significantly in group B than that before clamping and that in group A(P<0.01),which was higher significantly in group C than that in group B(P<0.05),but no in group A.(3)The ratio of paralysis in group C was lower significantly than that in group B with a high neurologic score(P<0.01).(4)In group B,more pathological changes and a greater number of neuronaldeath were seen in group B,which was only occasionally in group C.Conclusion:The results suggest that ATP-Mgcl2 may reduce spinal cord injury and preserve neurological function in transient spinal cord ischemia in rabbits.
