| Objective: To investigate the effects of Fangxiaoling capsule on the contents of cytokines (interferone-γ, interleukin-4 and interleukin-13) in BALF and serum of Bronchial Asthmatic Rats Model and explore the mechanism of treating asthma with Fangxiaoling capsule. Methods: Eighty-four male Wistar rats were divided randomly into seven groups: Normal control group, Model control group, Dexamethasone group, Fangxiaoling capsule low dose group, Fangxiaoling capsule middle dose group-1, Fangxiaoling capsule middle dose group-2, Fangxiaoling capsule high dose group, each group with twelve rats. Then we copied Bronchial Asthmatic Rats Model by being sensitized and inhaled with OVA. At the same time, each group was given relevant medicines. After seven weeks, we killed all the rats. And then we observed the changes of lung histomorphology of rats of various groups, surveyed the contents of cytokines (interferone-γ, interleukin-4 and interleukin-13) in BALF and serum. Results: Changes of bronchial and pulmonary histopathology in each group were typical, pointed out that Bronchial Asthmatic Rats Model were successful. Compared to Normal control group, Model control group had unbalance in the contents of cytokines in BALF and serum. Compared comprehensively, Dexamethasone group were better than other groups, Fangxiaoling capsule middle dose group-1 on the verge of it, Fangxiaoling capsule middle dose group-2 and Fangxiaoling capsule high dose group secondly, Fangxiaoling capsule low dose group worstly. Conclusion: Fangxiaoling capsule could alleviate the airway inflammation and affected the contents of cytokines in BALF and serum and alleviated eosinocyte infiltration in bronchial asthmatic rats model.
