Objective:To explore the influence of repairing time in treatment of traumatic skull defect on neural functional recovery. Methods:Retrospectively,we analyzed the clinical data of 64 traumatic skull defect patients treated in Qilu Hospital from October 2005 to January 2008.According to the repairing time, these patients were divided into three groups:early group(within 3 months after trauma),middle group(between 3 to 6 months after trauma),advanced group(after 6 months after trauma).Analyze the clinical data of these three groups with statistic methods. Results:Among 64 trauma skull defect patients with skull neoplasty, neurological positive signs of 45 patients improved.Among these,12 patients of early group mend, neurological positive signs improved;19 patients of middle group mend, neurological positive signs improved;14 patients of advanced group mend, neurological positive signs improved. Conclusions:The neural functional recovery of trauma skull defect patients with skull neoplasty in early stage could be improved better. Therefore, beside partly infection before skull neoplasty, skull defect should be repaired as early as possible after origin wound healing, intracranial pressure recovered, decompression window depressed and the state of patient stabilized. It not only disburdens patients but also concludes or retroconverses secondary brain damage of skull defect. Accordingly neural function improves.
