The Visual Quality And Vision Related Quality Of Life In High Myopia With Implantation Of Iris-fixated Intraocular Lens

Objective:To evaluation the visual performance and vision related quality of life in high myopia with implantation of iris- fixated intraocular lens.Methods:30 patients (53 eyes) were selected in Tongren eye center between January 2007 and September 2007. Patients were divided into two groups. One group 15 cases(26 eyes)with -8.25.0diapers~-21.0 diapers (D) of high myopia were implanted with the Verisyse PIOL,and one group 15 cases(27 eyes)with -9.0diapers~-16.0 diapers (D) of high myopia were made laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK).To measure wavefront aberration by iTrace Visual Function Analyzer postoperation 3 month.30 case with -8.25 diapers ~-21.0 diapers(D) of myopia were implanted with the Verisyse phakic intraocular lens(IOL). The questionaires about reasons for surgery, visual performance, satisfaction of postoperation were administered after the third postoperative monthResults:The mean efficacy index was 105.73±27.60 in PIOL group and 92.5±24.79 in LASIK group .The incidence of index less than 100 was higher in PIOL group without significance.The mean safety index of PIOL patients was 129.28±32.78 and 100.32±25.06 of LASIK patients .The incidence of the index more than 100 of PIOL was lower than of LASIK without significance. At 3 months postoperative ,the refractions of 80.8% patients in PIOL group and 92.6% patients in LASIK group were within 1.0diapers ~-1.0diapers(D). RMS-TOTAL,RMS-COMA,RMS-SPHERICAL,RMS3,RMA4 in two groups were significance at 4mm pupil.The most common motivating factor for pursuing PIOL was to improve uncorrected visual acuity(100% ), the next was freedom from the spectacles (93.33%). More than 90% of the patients reported the visual performance position or very position, especially in mid-distance visual acuity.93.33% in goup were satisfied the overall outcomes of PIOL,and would like to recommend to family and friends.Conclusions:1.Both PIOL and LASIK have been to achieve anticipant effection . The efficacy and safety of Verisyse group are correspond with LASIK group. The difference of two group's visual quality haven't significance at postoperation.2.The quality of vision include function and satisfaction after Verisyse PIOL implantation for high myopia is excellent.
