| Objective To explore the methods of ultrasonography in ankle ligaments, to evaluate the ultrasound(US)imaging appearance of ankle ligament injury, the feature was studied and the possibility of ultrasound using on evaluating therapeutic effect of lateral accessory ligament injury of ankle.Methods Based on cadaver specimens,the characters tics of each ligament in ultrasonographic images were observed,and the thickness of these ankle ligaments were measured with high frequency ultrasound in 100 healthy persons. Ultrasonography with 7 MHz~13 MHz liner prober was prospectively performed in 136 patients with ankle ligaments injury of the examined clinically.Each ankle joint was evaluated for 7 ligament,and total of 952 ligaments were ecamined.51 patients' ultrasonographic manifestations of ankle ligaments injury were compared with operation.Ultrasonography was performed in 33 patients with lateral accessory ligament injury,who were given by conservation or operation treatment after one month,three to six months.Fourteen of those patients were given by conservation or operation treatment after six to eighteen months.Results The ankle ligaments were obviously displayed at particular sectional planes.Discerning anatomic structure of the bones correctly was the base of recognizing the ankle ligaments accurately.There was no statistical difference of the thickness between left and right ankle ligaments.There was no statistical difference of ankle ligament thickness between men and women.Among the 51 patients,46 cases were found by ultrasonography and confirmed by operation.The sonogram feature of ankle ligament contused wound was tumefaction.The ankle ligament partial tear was that part of ligament interruption(calcaneofibular ligament)and threadlike fibers in irregular hyop-echo or no-echo region are connected with each other. The ankle ligament complete tear was that wholly ligament interruption,broken ends of fractured bone contraction(calcaneofibular ligament)and irregular hyop-echo or no-echo region penetrate the deltoid ligament and not contracture. Ultrasonography can observe directly recovery condition about ankle ligament prior-treatment and post-treatment.The ultrasonographic standard for therapeutic review of lateral accessory ligament injury of ankle was 4 classes: 0,â… ,â…¡,â…¢.Conclusions High frequency ultrasonography is a non-invasive, accurate and low price method for imaging ankle ligaments,detecting the presence of rupture of ankle ligament in the clinical setting of the ankle injury and evaluating therapeutic effect of lateral accessory ligament injury of ankle. |
