Background and PurposeThe femoral neck fracture(FNF) is"an unsolved fracture"in orthopedics. Although the therapies in fractures have improved much, however the FNF's therapeutic efficacy is not satisfied. The nonunion bone and the avascular necrosis of the femoral head(ANFH) are the two main complications of the FNF. It is hard to treat these two complications. The incidence rate of the FNF is about 3.58% among all the fractures.10% FNF result in the nonunion bone.10%-25% FNF result in ANFH. Nowadays there are many ways in the world to treat the FNF, while the complications are not completely solved.And they take a long stage to cure the FNF.Furthermore these ways don't agree the patients'early walks and cost much. Fracture Hip Support Joint(FHSJ) implanted in the joint, can keep the normal anatomy configuration of the joint and deduces the weight loading of the femoral head. It let patients walk early with weight loading. The patients live through the convalescence stage of the fracture with normal movement of the joint. At the same time, the FHSJ can prevent the ANFH. The animal experiment was set up to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of Fracture Hip Support Joint (FHSJ), which is an unrestriction support fixation, implanted on the fresh femoral neck fracture(FNF).Methods and Results36 skeletal mature hybrid dogs were divided into experimental group of 24 dogs and control group of 12 dogs at random.The animal model of femoral neck fracture was adopted by dislocating the hip joint and cutting the femoral neck. The FHSJ was planted into the hips of the experimental group. On the contrary, dislocations were repositted and two screws fix the fracture of the contral group. At 12 weeks,all of the animals both in the experimental group and the control group caught the ANFH.There were plenty of trabecular bone in the fracture area in the experimental group at 12 weeks. Only fibrillar osteotylus tissue were consisited in the fracture area of the contrary group.At 24 weeks,in the experimental group, trabecular bone of the fracture area became regular and marrow cells came out;there were little fibrosis of the femoral head.At the same time, fibrous tissue were still in the fracture area of the contrary group, and the avascular necrosis of femoral head aggravated,the femoral head deformed.At 48 weeks ,normal bone tissue became the tissue in the fracture area and the femoral head of the experitmental group.There were only little irregular trabecular bone in the fracture area and the height of the femoral head decreased severely.Conclusion The plantation of FHSJ,which is not only improving the healing of the femoral neck fracture,but also preventing the avascular necrosis of the femoral head with the femoral neck fracture, is an available method to heal the femoral neck fracture. |
