Chronic hepatitis(CH) is one of the most common diseases in our country. No matter what cause the CH, it will occurrence hepatic fibrosis(HF) if the CH growth. Current non-invasiveness diagnose methods were less reliability and sensitivity except biopsy. In clinical, however, there are certain limit like fee, untoward effects and sampling error etc. As a convenient and fast invasiveness diagnose method, if ultrasound measurement could diagnose chronic liver disease before cirrhosis is Pathologically occurred (stage of hepatic fibrosis),it would be helpful to investigate Prognosis to Prevent cirrhotic Process or reverse the process of hepatic fibrosis.Purpose: To record hepatic and kidney two-dimension (2D) ultrasound imaging, detect hepatic parenchyma and kidney cortex's gray-scale by computer and calculate ratio between them. This study aimed to evaluate diagnostic values of quantitative 2D ultrasound imaging at different stages of hepatic fibrosis and offer a new method of diagnose hepatic fibrosis non-invasiveness.Material and method: (1) Sixty patients with hepatic fibrosis verified by liver biopsy and 40 normal individuals used as controls. (2) Scanned with Acuson Sequoia 512 ultrasonograph with the same set-up of all the parameters. The gray-scale value of hepatic parenchyma and right kidney cortex were measured by histogram of Photoshop software, The gray-scale ratio of hepatic parenchyma to kidney cortex was calculated and compared with the hepatic fibrosis degree.Result: (1) As the hepatic fibrosis intensifies, hepatic parenchyma gray-scale increased with the hepatic fibrosis degree. In the process of hepatic fibrosis, hepatic parenchyma gray-scale variances were significantly different at stage S2,S3,S4 and S1 and normal. There were significant difference about hepatic parenchyma gray-scale within S2-4 to S1, S3-4 to S2 (P<0.01). kidney cortex gray-scale doesn't have obvious rule. (2) Use gray-scale of different stages of experimental hepatic fibrosis divided kidney cortex's. Calculate Hepatic and kidney gray-scale ratio, this ratio increased when hepatic fibrosis degree intensify. Conclusion: Computer-assisted semi-quantitative ultrasound gray-scale assessment could quantify different stages of experimental hepatic fibrosis. Hepatic and kidney gray-scale ratio can reflect hepatic fibrosis severity degree, this index can provide reference to clinical.
