| Objective To investigate the prevalence rates and the biotypes of Gardnerella vaginosis which cause Bacterial vaginosis in LanZhou area.To find an effective method for isolation and identification of Gardnerella vaginosis(GV).To determine the minimal inhibitory concentyation(MIC).To investigate the infection route of Gardnerella vaginosis.Methods Three hundred and ten female patients were involved.These patients were divided into BV group and NBV group.GV was inoculated and cultivated by home-made solid plate.Biochemical identification was taken based on four simple procedures(including colonial morphology,clear beta-hemolysis with diffuse edges on solid plate,negative catalase test and the typical cell morphology in the Gram stained morphology)and complicated procedure respecticely.GV was typed into different biotypes on the basis of hippurate hydrolysis,β-galactosidase and lipase activity of Briselden's method.The drug susceptibility test in vitro of some antimicrobial agents(includingMetronidazole,Clindamycin,Ciprofloxacin,Roxithromycin, Tetracycline,Cefuroxime and Ampicillin)were analysed.Results The isolation rate of GV from 110 BV patients was obviously higher than from 200 normal contral cases(52%and 10%,p<0.001).Seventy seven strains were tested,biotype 1,2,3,4,5and biotype 7 were 6.5%,18.2%,24.7%,28.6%,10.4%,11.7% respectively.the isolation rates of Biotype 2,3,4 from the patients infected with bacterial vaginosis were obviously higher than the rates from the normal contral cases.The susceptible agents were:Clindamycin,Roxithromycin,Tetracycline, Metronidazole.Sexual intercourse is not the exclusively way to transmit the Gardnerella vaginosis. Conclusions Biotype 1,2,3,4,5 and biotype 7 have been found in LanZhou area.The biotypes of GV in BV patients group were different from the non-patients group.Sexual intercourse is not the exclusively way to transmit the Gardnerella vaginosis.GV is not so sensitive to classic drug. |
