The Effect Of Tonifying Kidney And Qi And Activating Blood Therapy On Quality Of Life Of Knee OA

[Objective] : TO compare the effect of tonifying kidney and Qi and activating blood Decoction (Guyanding Decoction) and celecoxib on quality of life of patients with knee osteoarthritis; To try to create a TCM specific quality of life(QOL) scale for Knee osteoarthritis(OA)and to evaluate QOL of knee OA patients treated by tonifying kidney and Qi and activating blood therapy.[Methods] : The random numbers would be used to divided the included 65 cases of Knee Osteoarthritis in line with the standards into tonifying kidney and Qi and activating blood Decoction group and celebrex group, to assess the quality of life before and after taking medicine by using SF-36 and the Knee joint specific quality scale, from physical function (PF), role function physical (RP), bodily pain (BP) .general health (GH), vitality (VT), social function(SF), role function emotional (RE), mental health(MH) and physical function, mental state, social function, health Self-awareness, the symptoms and signs of TCM , to assess and analysize the results of their statistics.[Results] :The tonifying kidney and Qi and activating blood Decoction group and celebrex group before and after treatment has significant differences both in physical function (PF) and in bodily pain (BP), has not significant differences in the improving extent ; in vitality (VT), role function emotional (RE), emotional functions, mental state, social function, health self-awareness, the symptoms and signs of TCM, the tonifying kidney and Qi and activating blood Decoction group has statistical significance(P <0. 05) before and after treatment, the tonifying kidney and Qi and activating blood Decoction group is superior to celebrex group.[Conclusion] : Tonifying kidney and Qi and activating blood Decoction has a better clinical effect to KOA, not only on improving the physical pain and the symptoms of physical function, but also on improving the emotion, energy, daily life, and so on.
