Objective:To discuss the clinical meaning of Pre-operation Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation(NIPPV) treatment on reducing the postoperative pulmonary complication for COPD patients with esophageal and gastric cardiac cancer.Method:to select 80 patients who are fit for the treatment during February 2004 to August 2007(58 patients with esophageal cancer and 22 patients with gastric cardiac cancer),40 of them(A group) didn't accepted Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation(NIPPV) treatment before operation, but other 40 of them(B group) accepted NPPV before operation, and then compare the postoperative pulmonary complication.Result:22 patients in group A got Pneumonia,6 patients got Aectasis,5 patients got Pleural Effusion,3 patients got respiratory distress syndrome,10 got Acute Respiratory Failure,4 patients had to accept Tracheotomy Operation, and 2 patients died. But in group B,10 patients in group A got Pneumonia,0 patient got Aectasis,1 patient got Pleural Effusion,0 patient got Respiratory Distress Syndrome, and 2 patients got Acute Respiratory Failure. Conclusion:It has a positive clinical meaning of Pre-operation Non-invasive positive pressure ventila- tion treatment on reducing the postoperative pulmonary complication, such as Pneumonia, Aectasis,Acute Respiratory Failure, but its effects on Pleural Effusion and Respiratory Distress Syndrome are still to be studied and discussed.
