TanReqing Injection For Community Acquired Pneumonia: A Systematic Review Of Randomized Evidence

Objectives Our goal was to assess the efficiency; safety and clinical economics of TanReqing injection for community acquired pneumonia (CAP).Method We searched the following electronic databases: Medline; Cochrane Library; CBMdisc ; handsearch was applied in Journal of Chinese traditional medicine。In addition to we searched the reference lists of papers related to community acquired pneumonia. We included all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in which TanReqing injection tested for the treatment of CAP.these studies testing TanReqing injection and reporting the diagnostic criteria used in selecting patients as well as the clinical outcomes achieved were included without language restrictions.Data were extracted and study reports assessed by two independent reviewers (LYY and HY). Authors of studies were contacted as needed to resolve any ambiguities in the study reports. Differences between reviewers were resolved by discussion and consensus. The data were analyzed using the Cochrane Collaboration's RevMan 4.2.2 Software. The methodological quality of trails was assessed by the Jadad-scale.Results There were 11RCTs with 826 cases were involved.The methodological quality of all trails was low.The combined results showed that compared with the control group,TanReQing injection significantly increased clinical eficiency.Asymmetry showed in "Funnel plot" may be related to publication bias and low quality of methodology.No serious adverse effect was reported.Conclusions We can not draw reliable conclusions from the present data due to the general poor methodological quality and potential publication bias.The efficacy and safety of TanReQing injection in the treatment of community acquired pneumonia should be evaluated by more rigorously designed, randomized, multiply-center trails.
