| It was said in Fu Qing-zhu's Gynecology and Obstetrics that menstruation came from the kidney, which indicated that the sufficiency of kidney qi has indispensable functions on the normal start of menstruation. If the kidney qi is sufficient, it can stimulate and promote the circulation of blood in vessels, the menstruation is normal because of the fluency of qi and blood, and then there is no pain. If the kidney qi is not sufficient, the function of qi transmission and promotion is abnormal. The circulation of qi and blood of the uterus is not smooth due to the stagnation of blood, and this is "pain due to stagnation". This is the same with what Corrections on the Errors of Medical Works said: "the original qi can not reach the blood vessels once it is deficient, and it must cause deficiency if there is no qi in blood vessels." Therefore, it should be treated by replenishing kidney and nourishing the original qi. so as to make the blood vessels smooth, and there is no pain when the menstruation is normal.
