| Obsjects To investigate the association between polymorphismof matrixmetalloproteinase 3 (MMP3) and brachial artery endothelial function and cartoid aterty IMT of essential hypertension. Methods This study enrolled 108 patients with hypertension, 102 normal volunteers.With PCR, genotypes of MMP3 were scored according to the patterns of DNA bands. The carotid arteries were performed with ultrsonography in 68 patients with hypertension and 30 normal volunteers To investigate the changes of carotid artery hemodynamics:Systolic Pressure Velocity(Vsp),End Diastolic Velocity(Ved),Min Blood Velocity(Vmin),the mean blood velocity(Vm),blood pulse index(PI),and blood resisent index(RI) of common carotid artery(CCA) and internal carotid artery(ICA).To quantify the extent of CAS, the intima-media thickness(IMT) of CCA and ICA were measured, the maximal thickness measurements of all plaques were summed for an individual plaque score. And brachial artery endothelial function was measured.Resultsâ‘ With I,II,III EH there was an increasing trend for IMT,inside diameter of vascellum,RI of CCA; and decreasing trend for Systolic Pressure Velocity,Min Blood Velocity. End Diastolic Velocity. In multiple linear regression stepwise analysis of essential hypertension revealed that age,Diastolic Blood Pressure(DBP),Body Mass Index(BMI)were independently associated with IMT of CCA.but age,Diastolic Blood Pressure(DBP)were independently associated with inside diameter of CCA.â‘¡The frequency of MMP3 6A/6A type and allele A was higher in hypertension group than control group,but there was no statistical difference (gtype P=0.094, allele p=0.120). (3) patients with MMP3 6A/6A gtype have significantly higher IMT (P<0.05) .â‘£MMP3 type in hypertension group has no relation with brachial artery endothelial function. Conclusionâ‘ Formation of atherosclerosis plaque, reduction of blood flow speed, increases in the PI, RI and IMT of carotid artery are the frequent abnormal findings in carotid arteries in essential hypertensive patients, The severity of CAS may be used as a reference index for the prediction of cerebrovascular disease. RL IMT can be used as a reference index for the prediction about the severity of CAS.â‘¡The frequency of MMP3 6A/6A type and allele A was higher in hypertension group than control group, but there was no statistical difference.â‘¢Carotid IMT is higher among subjects homozygous.â‘£There was no relation between the MMP3 type of hypertension and brachial artery endothelial function, brachial artery endothelial function of essential hypertension was lower than control group. |
