Observation On Clinical Efficacy Of Treatment Of Children Viral Pneumonia By Combined Internal-External Therapy Of Traditional Chinses Medicine (TCM)

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of combined internal- external therapy of TCM on children respiratory syncytial virus(RSV), adenovirus(ADV), Influenza virus(IV) pneumonia.Method: From June 2005 to September 2006,116 cases were documented from the inpatient treatments on viral pneumonia children who suffered from breeze heat-induced lung shutdown. These patients were divided into 2 groups, adopting randomized, controlled and double blinded principle. Besides the basic treatment of western medicine and internal administering of Xiaoerqingfei syrup and antitussive plaster,to the 58 children in the treated group external applying of Ningfei plaster were given additionally,while to the 58 children in the control group simulative placeboes were given for instead. The clinical efficacy of treatment on disease and syndrome, improvement of TCM syndrome and physical signs of lung and days of being in hospital between the two groups were observed after treatment.Results: The cured-markedly effective rate of treatment on disease and syndrome was 96.55%,98.28% in the treated group and 84.48%,86.21% in the control group. The days of being in hospital in the treated group were significantly shorter than that in the control group.Conclusion: It was showed that the combined internal-external TCM treatment,which could significantly enhance the clinical efficacy,is an effective therapy for viral pneumonia children who suffered from breeze heat-induced lung shutdown.
