Puffball, a Chinese crude drug, has been widely used in China as hemostatic and pharyngodynia. Many kinds of compounds had been found from puffball, some compounds have fine biological activity. Since sixty ages, twenty century, many chemists have been interested in puffball's biological activites.In this paper, the study was focus on the constituents from Lasiosphaera fenzlii Reich and antitumer activity (One puffball has been adducted in Chinese Pharmacopeia.) We collect Lasiosphaera fenzlii Reich, from Hulan area of Heilongjiang, China..Eleven compounds have been isolated from Lasiosphaera fenzlii Reich., and ten of the compounds have been identified,including nine ergosterol derivatives and one fatty acid:[7,7'-Biergosta-4,22-dien]-3,6,3',6'-tetrone-8,8'-dihydroxy( I), ergosta-4, 7,22-trien-3,6-dione( II), 8β-hydroergosta-4,6,22-trien-3,6-dione(III), ergosta-7,22-dien-3,6-dione(IV) , ergosta-7,22-dien-3-ol( V) , 5α,8β-epidioxy-(22E,24E)-ergosta-6,22-dien-3p-ol(VI), ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3P-ol(VII), 3-hydroergosta-7,22- dien-6-one (VIII), ergosta-7,22-dien-3β-one(IX), Palmitic acid(X).The compound I is a new compound, and the other compounds VII, VIII, X are acquired from Calvatia for the first time.In our research, we studied the antitumor activity of compound II and VI.We used the method of MTT assay and find that both of the two compounds can suppresses growth of human leukemia K562 cells and pulmonary epithelial cells A549.
